On 26th July 2016, Tom Davies left his home in Presteigne in a stout pair of walking boots carrying a 20 kg rucksack, and set off north along the Offa’s Dyke Path. On 1st October he arrived home, having walked not only the length of the ODP but also the whole of the Wales Coast Path to circumnavigate the entire 1,100-mile perimeter of Wales, raising an eventual total of £6,700 for Alzheimer’s Society.
Every night during his 9-week walk, he recorded the places, people, wildlife, difficulties and joys he had experienced that day. This heart-warmingly open and honest book is bursting with interesting facts about the places along Tom’s route, vivid descriptions and photos of stunning scenery, magical wildlife encounters, bizarre anecdotes, random and life-reaffirming generosity from strangers, and even a few dark moments when he felt that he had bitten off more than he could chew. But most of all it contains an astounding energy and positivity, and a contagious love for the breathtaking coast and scenery of Wales which cannot fail to get the reader’s feet itching to get out and see more of this wonderful country.
